Flute/Piccolo, Oboe, Clarinet, Bassoon, Horn, Violin I, Violin II, Viola, Cello, Double Bass
This orchestral reduction of Rossini’s La Cenerentola is aimed for performance using 10 players. The number of strings can be increased to create an enlarged string section. The score and parts have both rehearsal numbers and bar numbers.
This reduction includes all the music from the opera including both Alidoro arias “Vasto teatro e il mondo” and “La del ciel nell’arcano profondo”, as well as the Alidoro/Cenerentola orchestral recitative “Si, Tutto Cangiera” and Clorinda’s aria “Sventurata”. It also includes the Introduction to Act 2 “Ah! Della bella incognita”.
This reduction was created in 2000 for performances for Iford Arts. Recent performances include Piccolo Festival del Friuli Venezia Giulia, Italy; West Green House Opera, UK; Opéra Eclaté-Opéra Théâtre, France; Staatstheater am Gärtnerplatz, Germany (also live-streamed); TICINO MUSICA, Switzerland; and and several performances across the USA including Opera Orlando, Midwestern State University, Raylynmor Opera, Opera Tampa, Opera in the Heights and Opera Theatre of Montclair.
An extremely smooth and balanced sound from the West Green House Orchestra, which plays Jonathan Lyness’ reduced orchestration”
